Tijuana, Baja California, México a 10 de febrero del 2023.- Los Xolos de Tijuana hacen oficial la llegada al mando de la dirección técnica a Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera, quien, tras no lograr quedarse en la contienda final por la dirección de la selección mexicana, la directiva Tijuanense lo contacto para asumir el cargo para lo queda del torneo Clausura 2023.

Herrera vivirá su segunda etapa con los fronterizos, donde en su primer mandato logro llevar a los rojinegros con dos super lideratos, tristemente no se pudo avanzar en la instancia final de la liguilla, pero las alegrías en la frontera de un equipo agresivo y dominando en el torneo regular hicieron en su día felices a toda la frontera.

Dentro de los logros del nuevo estratega de la Jauría se encuentran varios títulos de Liga MX con las Águilas del América y una Copa Oro con la selección mexicana en 2015.

Miguel ha dirigido varios equipos en México, ha pasado por Tecos, Atlante, Rayados, Veracruz, América en dos ocasiones, Tigres y con Xolos que de igual manera será la segunda ocasión.

En el ámbito internacional dirigió al conjunto nacional mexicano como bombero para el repechaje ante Nueva Zelanda y quedándose hasta la instancia de octavos de final donde caería ante el similar de Países Bajos con el mal recuerdo del ‘no era penal’ en el Mundial de Brasil 2014.

El ’Piojo’ ya se encuentra en Tijuana para la firma del contrato, estuvo presente en el partido ante Atlético San Luis y hará su debut para la Jornada 7 cuando visiten al conjunto de Chivas en el Estadio Akron y posteriormente al equipo con el cual ha conseguido títulos importantes como lo es el equipo de América, ese encuentro igual será de visita en el Coloso de Santa Úrsula. Su debut en el banquillo xoloitzcuintle como local será hasta la Jornada 9 cuando reciban a Pachuca.
