Las sorpresas que llenan el alma

En el debut de la selección mexicana en Qatar todo era nervios y la derrota parecía más probable que la victoria. Ante Polonia todas las pesadillas de los aficionados mexicanos estaban por hacerse realidad, pero cuando Lewandowski tiró un penal, Guillermo Ochoa se erigió como héroe y lo detuvo (ni los polacos lo podían creer).

El equipo mexicano no superó la fase de grupos; sin embargo, esa estampa quedará para la posteridad y, si soy honesta, amo las bonitas sorpresas de esta clase de justas. Afortunadamente, no fue la única: ver a los japoneses llegar a los octavos de final junto a los surcoreanos fue hermoso. Los sueños se cumplen cuando trabajas en ellos.

Este Mundial también nos ha enseñado que la perfección es parte del pasado o las distancias en definitiva se han acortado. De las 32 selecciones invitadas, ninguna logró acabar con 3 partidos ganados y 9 puntos en la bolsa aunque sí hubo naciones invictas como Marruecos, Países Bajos e Inglaterra, las cuales sumaron un empate en sus cuentas para quedarse con 7 unidades.

En un grupo donde estaba Bélgica, Marruecos se hizo del Grupo F con 7 puntos y en octavos de final dejaron en el camino a la España de Luis Enrique en penales. Quizá le copiaron la fórmula a Croacia para pasar con el cuchillo entre los dientes.

Estamos en la recta final y espero que en Catar 2022 el futbol siga siendo el principal ganador.
