Juan Román Riquelme. El genio que se enamoró del balón.

Hay romances que quedan guardados para la posteridad, esos que te hacen sentir hasta la última partícula del cuerpo y que, hacen soñar hasta cuando estas despierto. Existen historias románticas como la de Riquelme y la pelota, que siempre que las escuchamos, decidimos creer que el amor existe.

La primera cita de Román con su amada fue en Don Torcuatro, barrio humilde del futbolista, donde tuvo su primer acercamiento a “la de gajos” y que, por cierto, jugaba por plata con personas que le doblaban la edad.
Jugador creado en el potrero, con talento natural, regateador por nacimiento y visionario por excelencia. Riquelme tenía todo el estereotipo para ser uno de esos jugadores en extinción; de esos que ya no se encuentran dentro del rectángulo verde, inclusive, algunos dicen que fue “El ultimo diez”.

Aquel niño tenia que jugar en primera división, y lo consiguió. La vida y el fútbol no me podían quitar la oportunidad de que mis pupilas pudieran observar todo lo que “el torrero” hizo con una pelota atada a sus botines. Quien haya visto jugar a Riquelme pensará que el fútbol es el deporte más fácil del mundo, y es que, así lo hacía ver Román; “el diez” realizaba cosas que solo se le pueden ocurrir a los genios, siempre iba un paso por delante y pareciera que cuando la tempestad los conquistaba, él siempre mantenía la calma.

El estilo de juego de Juan Román es inexplicable, tienes que verlo para entenderlo, pero no hay duda que Riquelme es sinónimo de genialidad. Y si hiciéramos la metáfora que el argentino es un pintor, sus piernas serian sus pinceles y el campo seria su lienzo. Ese en donde el astro era feliz, pareciera como si el césped fuera el edén de Román, aquel lugar en donde mostraba desparpajo para regatear a sus rivales, inteligencia para cubrir el balón y fineza para golpear el balón y enviarlo a besar las redes.

Imposible olvidarse de todos los momentos en donde “Topo Gigio” nos enseño lo que puede hacer un ser humano con una pelota de fútbol. Aquel caño que le tiró a Yepez al borde de la banda, podría ser catalogado como una obra de arte, cómo olvidar ese gol en Brasil, donde enmudeció a todo el Estadio, la noche en Japón donde volvió loco al Real Madrid y qué decir del tiro libre hecho en un clásico en donde Barovero fue el mejor espectado de ese gol, o, de las tantas veces que se le apreció amasar la pelota con las suelas de sus botines, tal y como decía Bianchi.

El carácter de Román de siempre querer el balón, nunca esconderse, inclusive en los escenarios más hostiles, como cuando en la semifinal de Libertadores Galeano decía que lo iba a romper , pero, Juan fue a Brasil y le hizo un gol a Palmeiras para acercar a Boca a otro titulo más, es inevitable hablar del festejo que inmortalizó, llevándose las manos a la orejas para retar al presidente de Boca Jrs y pedir que lo dejara ir a Europa o de la sencillez que tuvo el enganche para regresar a Argentinos Jrs (club que lo debutó) y ayudarlo a volver al máximo circuito.

El ”10” era ese jugador que le facilitaba la vida a los delanteros porque sabían que en cualquier momento Juan Román iba a frotar la lampará, sacaría a su genio interior y los iba a dejar de cara a la portería rival con una asistencia.

Nadie imaginaria que el “torero” que jugaba en el potrero se iba a convertir en uno de los mejores jugadores argentinos de la historia. En Argentina pasó sus mejores tardes, cuando la 12 coreaba su nombre, a la afición Xeneize le regaló tantas alegrías en “el jardín de su casa”, así como se refería el argentino a la bombonera.

Riquelme fue un prototipo de enganche que el fútbol extraña, con una desfachatez única para hacer posible lo imposible; iluminado por la luz celestial para crear un vínculo amoroso con la pelota, esa con la que el “10” siempre vive y vivirá enamorado.
