Temprano en el partido, los pupilos de Víctor Manuel Vucetich se fueron con todo su poderío ofensivo hacia adelante y provocaron el primer gol al minuto 2, cuando desde la izquierda llegó un balón por parte de Rodrigo Aguirre al centro cerca de linderos y Unai Bilbao en su intento de desaparecer el peligro, envió el esférico a un costado a Germán Berterame, quien le acomodó la pelota a Funes Mori y remató de primera intención.

Ya para la segunda mitad, el desarrollo del juego fue el mismo, con un Monterrey totalmente ofensivo y un San Luis que no se hizo notar en el terreno del BBVA.
Rayados empezó a perdonar muchas jugadas, tales como la de Luis Romo al 47`quien sacó un potente disparo desde fuera del área que pasó por encima del travesaño.

Pero, poco le duró la esperanza a los potosinos para lograr empatar el marcador, ya que al 67`el ‘Mellizo’ hizo su Hat-Trick luego de un disparo de Rodrigo Aguirre, el cual topó en el travesaño, para que Funes Mori rematara de cabeza, y así sellar el resultado 3-1.
Con la victoria del sábado, Rayados llegó a 6 unidades ubicándose en la posición 3, mientras que San Luis se quedó con 4 puntos en el lugar 9.
