Sobre el final del primer tiempo se gestaron algunas ocasiones en el área Escarlata, aunque fue más por empuje y un tanto de suerte para el chiverío, y la guardameta estadounidense se encargó de salvar su meta de gran forma comenzando a engrandecer su figura.
Para el complemento, Chivas comenzó a ganar terreno por medio de las salidas que otorgaba Karla Martínez avanzando con el esférico, aunque no pareció tener química suficiente con Joseline Montoya, provocando una gran cantidad de pérdidas que Toluca intentó explotar, principalmente con escapadas con habilidad de Brenda Woch.
Siendo la más importante una acción poco después de los 50 minutos en la que la brasileña fue al frente a toda velocidad y tras eludir defensoras retrasó para Diana Guatemala, quien se quedó a centímetros de sorprender a Celeste Espino, pero el balón fue directo al metal.
Después de los cambios pasada de la hora de juego, vinieron minutos de muy poco que destacar, en donde las pocas opciones de mediano peligro surgían en acciones a balón parado que no encontraban una rematadora ofensiva en ninguno de los dos equipos.
Al 79′ la ya polémica actuación de la joven árbitra encontró uno de sus puntos máximos con una mano clara dentro del área de Patricia Jardón que no fue señalada, minutos después un aparente empujón sobre Carolina Jaramillo también en el área penal tampoco fue decretado encendiendo al ‘Pato’ Alfaro y la predominante afición visitante.
La más clara del partido llegó sobre el final del tiempo regular, cuando Thompson contuvo el intento de Montoya, quien recibió en el área el pase entre líneas de Rubí Soto, pero no fue capaz de poner el balón en las redes.
Con el 0-0 final, las ‘Diablas Rojas’ obtienen un balsámico primer punto en el Clausura 2023, además de lograr dejar en 0 su arco por primera vez desde agosto pasado. Por su parte, las visitantes perdieron el paso perfecto.
